The other day I was watching a
DVD on my newly replaced PS2 and in
the middle of the movie I had to leave to go eat dinner. I
decided that this would be a good time to use the PS2's memory
feature, where the system is supposed to remember where a movie
was stopped when the system is put into standby. When the system
is woken up, the movie resumes play right where it left off.
This worked on my old disk-scratching system, but when I
returned from dinner the new system started the movie from the
beginning. I checked the manual and found that it had been
revised to state explicitly that the memory is cleared if the
system is put into standby! I guess there were more than
spelling corrections in the new 1.20U DVD drivers....
