Mr. N64's Breakdown of Diddy Kong Racing (DKR)'s Game Elements:

Graphics:
4.9 out of 5: Overall, the graphics in DKR help to create a cartoon world unlike any before seen in a videogame. The horizon can be a bit difficult to make out at times, and some of the lines in the distance are a bit more jagged than most N64 games, but overall, the graphics are great.

Music:

5 out of 5: It may not be to everyone's taste, but the cartoony music fits the setting, and it isn't too annoying. I've still got the tune from Hot Top Volcano stuck in my head!

Sound FX:

4 out of 5: The genie’s voice is awesome, but the rest are just too cartoony and annoying. Sometimes it can be hard to make out what they're saying. The non-vocal sounds are very solid, but not remarkable.

Play Control:

6 out of 10: DKR's control is mediocre. It's a tad bit sharper than Mario Kart's, but it's not enough to bring the rating up above a 6.

Frustration Factor:

5 out of 10 (10 being the worst): Repetition is key with DKR. In order to proceed, you must replay each race until you get it just right. You can go to other parts of the island if you get frustrated, but you'll find the same situation wherever you go. If you've got some patience, and a desire to race and race and race, DKR shouldn't be too frustrating.
