The satisfaction of purchasers and the communities has been overwhelmingly favorable. A recent study by the U. S. Department of Agriculture found that 99% of the 375+ members of these cooperatives would make the same choice again, and 97% would recommend cooperative ownership to their friends. Communities where Homestead Cooperatives were built have reported that single-family homes, freed up by seniors moving to Hometead, created some of the most affordable local family housing in recent years. And, these communities retained the resources and contributions of these critically important, long-time senior residents.
