Unit patch of the Third Battalion (Attack Helicopter), 147th Aviation Regiment, Minnesota Army National Guard. I commanded Companies D and C and served as the full-time Training Officer and as the OIC until the unit was disbanded in October 2002.

Picture taken in January, 1999 at the Western ARNG Aviation Training Site (WAATS), Marana, Arizona. This is towards the end of the AH-1F Airframe Qualification Course.

Two AH-1Fs from C/1-168th ATKHB, WA ARNG during Operation Rendezvous '89.

First Lieutenant Joe DeStefano at WAATS. Joe is also a member of the 1st Squadron, 158th Cavalry, MD ARNG.

Another shot from Maryland. Barney kicks some ass.

This was not taken at WAATS. That is not CW3 Dennis Banks in back. Honest.

View from the back seat through the HUD. This picture was recently identified by Kevin O'Brien as one taken by Mark Stout enroute from the Yakima Firing Center back to Fort Lewis Washington. Mark and Kevin are co-owners of the Friends of Army Aviation Website, which has a bunch more great shots like this one.

Loading blue rocks in the FARP. It could be most anyplace, but I suspect that it was taken at Range 1789 on the Yakima MPRC as I got this pic from the same questionable source that stole the images from the Friends of Army Aviation Website. Kevin? The aircraft looks like 465 or 485, it's kinda hard to tell.

From CW4 Rich Schiffli: "The Chalk3 image was a recruiting poster production that I took part in around 1983. We hovered over Fort Knox for about an hour to get the shot they wanted. I was located in the chalk 3 A/C. I believe I was flying with CW2 Larry Kulsrud. We were assigned to Bco 229th AHB, Ft Campbell, KY."

Thanks Rich!

Another great shot fromYakima courtesy of the Friends of Army Aviation Website.

Yakima again, you really should check out the Friends of Army Aviation Website.

This is me in front of an OH-58 on static display at WAATS. The aircraft was painted by some of the guests of the Arizona penal system and is not an operational paint scheme.

Same paint job on this AH-1F, also at WAATS. This is aircraft #15255, which belonged to the WA ARNG until the breakup of the 168th ATKHB in 1994.

Aircraft #189 was also assigned to the WA ARNG until 1994. It now lives in St. Paul and is pictured here at Camp Ripley, Minnesota during AT 1999.
