(03/05/2020) "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah", Johnny Mercer and The Pied Pipers with Paul Weston and His Orchestra - Capitol 323 (1946) This week's theme: Walt Disney's "Song of the South" Remember growing up with all those wonderful Disney movies? Movies like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, Peter Pan. And do you especially remember Disney's movie, "Song of the South", with all it's wonderful memorable characters like Uncle Remus, Johnny, Toby, Ginny Favers (the poor white girl), Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear. Do you? You do? Really? NO YOU DON'T! Did I catch you lying again? Wait, did I ever catch you lying before? I must have you mixed up with somebody else :-) This movie was considered so incredibly racially offensive that Disney had to pull it off the market shortly after releasing it and has buried it ever since! And that was by 1946 standards - long before the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
