This week's theme: The Sex Pistols

Sometimes people ask me  - don't you have any modern music?
I assume they mean something from the 1960s or 1970s.

I like just about anything but you can get that stuff off any "Oldies" station.

Anyway, I thought I'd play something newer today.

I think the Sex Pistols were probably the best "punk rock" band ever (name a better "punk rock" band).

Their two big stars were Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious.

I never got into the "punk" scene myself, too many metal piercings for me - 
I like pain as much as the next guy but there are limits - and my limit is zero :-)

The band only recorded one studio album, "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols" and broke up in 1978.

Things did not go well for Mr. Vicious after the breakup.

He allegedly stabbed his girl friend, 20 year old Deborah Spungen, to death on October 8-9 1978.

But in his defense, he did claim he was so high on heroin that night that he didn't remember killing her.

He just found her dead body in the bathroom the next morning. (Don't you just hate it when that happens).

The crime never went to trial, he died of a heroin overdose on February 1-2, 1979. He was 21 years old.

His dead body was discovered in the morning by his mother.

Probably not a good role model for young children.

I guess he should have done it "Frank's way".
