This week's theme: Hugh Hefner Sad news - Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy Magazine, is dead at 91. Like most guys, I only bought Playboy to read the articles (wait - Playboy had articles? Oh ya, that's right) It wasn't just a girlie magazine, it was selling the fantasy lifestyle of the rich, hip playboy with advice like which 8-track you should buy for your Ferrari and other practical day-to-day tips for playboy living. One of the silliest things they ever did was a 1979 TV special called "Playboy's Roller Disco & Pajama Party". I have to admit it lived up to it's name - and not much else. The first half consisted of scantily clad girls on roller skates skating around in a big circle and the second half girls in scanty pajamas at a disco dance. Kind of sounds like my house on a Friday night :-) Weirdly somebody here in the twin cities (not me) taped it and put the whole thing out to YouTube so now you can see it too. How nice. Check out the snarky news announcer at the beginning of part three :-) He's local news celeb Ron Magers. They got "Soap" thrown off the air. And what was the first made-for-TV movie of the newly cleaned up 1981 TV season?
