"Hound Dog", Elvis Presley (07/1956) This week's theme: Dogs - man's best friend - sort of - (sort of the theme I mean :-) Elvis Presley From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley Hound Dog (song) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hound_Dog_(song) Elvis Presley "Hound Dog" (September 9, 1956) on The Ed Sullivan Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrn8nTMcv_k Elvis Presley "Hound Dog" (October 28, 1956) on The Ed Sullivan Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNYWl13IWhY Elvis Presley - Hound Dog (1956) HD 0815007 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMmljYkdr-w ********************************* I have a VERY faint memory about this - I remember, as a very little kid, singing this song and prancing around, like Elvis did, while my oldest brother was laughing at how silly I was being. My folks used to watch Ed Sullivan a lot but I don't actually remember seeing this on TV. Still, I think I must have - I can't imagine where else I would have gotten it back then. I would have been four years old when this was on TV. ********************************* The Nixon-Presley Oval Office Meeting President Nixon, Elvis Presley, and the strangest White House meeting that actually happened https://nypost.com/2016/04/17/that-time-elvis-presely-talked-drugs-with-richard-nixon/ Elvis Presley's Gift to President Richard Nixon - Colt .45 pistol https://www.whitehousehistory.org/photos/elvis-presleys-gift-to-president-richard-nixon-colt-45-pistol 5 Things We Learned About Elvis and Nixon’s Bizarre White House Meeting https://www.maxim.com/entertainment/elvis-and-nixon-what-we-learned-guns-tribeca-2016/ Elvis Meets Nixon (mockumentary) From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Meets_Nixon ********************************* Elvis Presley - Aloha From Hawaii, Live in Honolulu, 1973 (Full Concert) The Ultimate Experience https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLmsZC45-m8 The album of this concert was released as what I still think was the BEST quadraphonic record album ever made. It was released in the RCA Quadradisc CD-4 ("Compatible Discrete 4") quadraphonic format. The concert is a sort of "come back" performance where he performs all his biggest hits. I'm not really that big of an Elvis fan but this is really good. You want to hear it in Quad if you can to get the full effect. The YouTube video starts out slow but does get going. (Skip ahead to about 6:30 minutes if you want.) ********************************* Most of my friends have never caught a rabbit. I've never considered that to be a big deal. Of course they're not crying all the time either :-) I'm just a hunk a hunk of burning love! From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(How_Much_Is)_That_Doggie_in_the_Window%3F This song was Number 1 on the charts in 1953 for eight weeks. And was the third best-selling song of 1953. About a month ago it was around 100 degrees. Now we have SNOW! What happened to Indian Summer? I mean Native American Summer. I mean Indigenous People Summer. Whatever it is, I want a couple of months of it! Put the NO in sNOw! ********************************* Man, this daylight saving stuff has me all goofed up. I set my clocks back an hour last Sunday, like we're suppose to and now everything is ALL whacky. I'm eating at the wrong time, and sleeping at the wrong time. I'm pooping at the wrong time and all the TV shows are on at the wrong time. What's the deal? Why does this have to be so complicated :-) ********************************* I only had 15 kids show up for "trick or treat" this year - usually about 25. I always get enough candy for fifty - just in case :-) It gives me an excuse to buy so much. (The rest of the year I just buy a lot with no excuse :-) I used to hand out packs of cigarettes and little bottles of liquor. The kids always seemed to love that. This year, though, I decided just to hand out candy. Sad to see their disappointed little faces. Oh well, maybe next year kids :-) Stay Jazzed! --Tom Swezey ...
