Edsel (1958 - 1960 model years)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edsel

I was watching an old TV show and a guy in it was driving an Edsel.

I haven't thought about those cars in years.

They were named after Henry Ford's son, Edsel.

A friend of my Mother's had one and I remember riding in it.

To shift it - it had pushbuttons in the center hub of the steering wheel -
(where the horn normally is).

My memory is that there was no real target market for it.

It was suppose to be a budget luxury car.

But it wasn't fancy enough to compete with Cadillac's or Lincoln
Continentals and it wasn't cheap enough to be a family car.

Plus it evidently had a lot of technical problems.

The Edsel got to be a joke.

The brand was discontinued after just three years.

They sold for $2,484–$3,766 (Continentals sold for $4,802–$4,927)

Stay Jazzed!
