This week's theme: New Years Eve Party like it's 1979! I bought this record brand new in 1977. Hard to believe that was 40 years ago! It's basically a condensed disco version of the movie - a song for each main scene. My theory is that since music is a non-verbal, emotional communication, it needs the slight imperfections that occur from a human creator of it. In disco they turn on a drum machine and get a relentless, perfect mechanical beat which eventually feels cold and inhumane. The other parts of the music might make up for it, otherwise it seems sterile. Anyway, that's my theory as to why it died out.
