When did wearing a Covid 19 mask become a political issue?

It's a medical issue - only.

If I go to the doctor and he says you need to take medicine XYZ, I go home
and take medicine XYZ.

Sure, I could say, "no fascist doctor is going to tell ME what medicine to
take" - if I was an idiot.

So what's the big deal?

When I was a kid, people used to be a lot more patriotic.

I know, I know, since Reagan, there has been a blossoming of the "hate the
government" movement.

I get it. In normal times it's kinda cute and fun.

But these aren't normal times.

We're all adult American citizens, and this is a pandemic, we should act
like it.

I remember the John F. Kennedy inauguration when he said:

"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your
country."

Our country isn't asking us to storm the D-Day Normandy beaches, or be a
Nathan Hale (google him), they're just asking us to wear a Covid 19 mask in
public during the current pandemic.

It is to retard the spread of the disease - to help keeping us from getting
it if we don't have it or from spreading it if we do.

"No fascist government is going to tell ME to wear a mask. I'm a free
person - I know my rights - and I'm not going to wear one."

Oh, boo-hoo Mr. Patrick Henry, such an imposition!

I am so impressed by these super patriots - NOT.

America is in the middle of a disaster and needs our help.

Over 128,000 of our fellow Americans have died so far - and the meter is
still running!

That's over forty times as many Americans as died in the 9/11 attacks.

Forty times as many.

How many dead does it take to get their attention?

And they can't be bothered to wear a mask when out in public because it
tramples their rights?

Give me a brake.

Our country is calling - America is hurting - doesn't that matter to anybody
any more?
