12/23/2021 ************************************************* One Christmas, a long time ago, I drove my parents out to my brothers house for Christmas Day dinner. It's about a half hour drive and one of the local radio stations said they were going to play Christmas music all day long. So I thought "great - we can get all Christmas-ed up before we get there." I expected songs like "Joy to the World" or "Sleigh Ride". Well, that's NOT what happened. Every - single - song - was a DOWNER! You know, like "I'll be dead by Christmas", "Remembering happy Christmases but now they always suck", "Remembering the Christmas when the house burned down and Uncle Fred died" - you get the picture - DOWNERS. Every single one! The most upbeat song they played, in half an hour, was "Silent Night". By the time we got to my brother's house we felt like "Oh, crap - it's Christmas again! - oh, no!". Anyway, I realized - this is crazy! If you can't be happy on Christmas - well, when can you be happy? :-) So anyway I vowed that if I ever collected together Christmas songs - NONE of them would ever be DOWNERS. So look at my Secret Server: http://73.88.44.174/MusicArchive/000%20Homemade%20CD%20Collections/CD%20Christmas%20Music%20(1940s%20-%201950s)/ A few are a little bland - but none are DOWNERS. ***** The main thing I like about Christmas is that for a few days, at least, people pretend to be nice to each other. I know they don't really mean it and they certainly can't keep it up all year, but it's nice for a few days - isn't it? :-) Everybody can be nice for a few days, can't they? - I mean if they really try? Please? :-) So, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Festivus or happy any other holiday of your choice - whatever makes you smile and act nice to others :-) And Stay Jazzed, --Tom Swezey
