Frances Langford is probably best remembered for her involvement with Bob Hope's USO 
shows during WWII.

My Dad was in the Navy in WWII.
He said, he never saw a Bob Hope show but knew guys who did.
They said Hope always did two shows, one clean one for the newsreel cameras 
for back home and then a second,  totally filthy, "blue" show with the 
cameras off, just for the troops.
What constituted "blue" in the 1940s might be pretty tame today - or maybe 
not, who knows.
Too bad they didn't record at least one of them.
