transforming society through evaluation
The 1998 AEA meeting theme is: Transforming Society through Evaluation. This theme builds on past AEA meeting themes, such as utilization, politics, social justice, and theory and practice. One challenge in the evaluation community relates to evaluation's possible role in bringing about fundamental changes in program practice that lead to improvement in society.
