Late Sunday evening, Windows Millennium
went AWOL on me. I was having some problems since I installed
Direct X 8, so I tried to use System Restore to revert to my
pre-DX8 setup. System Restore did not work. It froze.
To make a long story short, the guts of Win ME had stopped
working for reasons unknown to me (no, it was not a virus). I've
spent the better part of the last 48 hours re-installing Win ME
on top of itself several times in order to iron out all of the
kinks. Fortunately, I refused to give up and format my C drive,
so now that things are running again I can resume work on the
site exactly where I left off.
The bad news is that after this experience, I want to spend
some time away from my computer. I'll resume work on
my Shenmue review tomorrow, and I think I can still have it
posted by the end of the week. However, I'm scrapping plans to
get an additional review up this week.
