Breakdown of Cruis'n USA's Game Elements:

Graphics:
3.5 out of 5: The graphics are 99% arcade perfect. In this case however, that isn't all that great. The game seems very flat. It's very weird to see a giant cardboard cutout of a redwood fall flat on the road, and then drive over it without a single bump to show that it's there. The anti-aliasing really helps give the graphics an arcade feel, and it's kind of cool to see graphics in an arcade conversion that really do match those of the arcade game. Women are shown dancing in bikinis and mini skirts -- not really appropriate for a K-A game.

Music:
3 out of 5: A lot of reviewers seem to hate the music in Cruis'n USA, but over all, I'd say that it fits the game well. Most of the tunes are cheesy background tunes that are fun to... well.... cruise to. The sounds of a woman going "ooh, ah" over and over again in one of the tunes is a bit odd, and is just one of the things that makes me wonder if K-A was the right rating for the game

Sound FX:
2 out of 5: While the sounds are just like the arcade, they're pretty poor and detract from the sense that the cars are anything more than high quality RC toys.

Play Control:
4 out of 10: The default control setup is unintuitive. The cars don't control anything like a real car. Steering (while adjustable) feels more like swerving than driving. You'll be able to play OK, but it just doesn't feel right. Objects have weird physical properties that make them react oddly to collision, etc..

Frustration Factor:

7 out of 10 (10 being the worst): As with Wayne Gretzky's 3-D Hockey, Cruis'n USA can be very dull unless you're in the mood for it. When trying to win at the game, cars that continually bounce and block you after being hit, poor play control, and lots of repetition make Cruis'n USA pretty frustrating for someone who would try to finish it on all the difficulties with all of the cars.
