- The 2005 Mileage Log has been
updated with what may be my last data of the year. The latest
MPG result is actually quite nice considering recent weather
conditions have included sub-zero temperatures! :-)
12/1/05
- The first significant snowfall has arrived here in Minnesota, and so
the site background has been updated to reflect the new snow-covered
view outside.
- Along with the new snow, temps have been in the teens and 20s, which
believe it or not is actually below normal for this time of year. The 2005
Mileage Log has been updated with data that can only confirm
winter has indeed arrived, along with its lower MPG results.

updated with what may be my last fill-up before the really cold air
arrives here in MN for its long winter stay...

- The Maintenance Log has been
updated with information about my recent
oil change and tire rotation.
- The site background has been updated to reflect the recent and
sudden arrival of the fall colors. It probably won't be long now until
it needs replacing with a snow covered view...

- What a difference a month can make! With fall temperatures having
just arrived, the bladder in the Prius' gas tank has produced the
opposite effect from that experienced a month ago. See the pleasant

- Well, it looks like the Prius' "bladder-effect"
has struck again -- in combination with extended AC use during recent
hot summer temperatures -- to create a mileage calculation that's
quite different from the one on the car's display. That's a little
disappointing when
it comes to website graphs and tables, but I guess it's part of owning such
an environmentally friendly car. See the latest data in the 2005

- It may not technically be summer yet, but with things really

- I've completely redone the 2005
Mileage Log, with the newer data listed at the top of the page
rather than at the bottom as it was previously. I believe rewriting
the HTML may also solve some of the odd formatting problems Firefox
exhibits with the tables from time-to-time. I'll be reformatting all
of the mileage logs to follow this new format as soon as I can.
- I've now switched the site over to use embedded sounds rather than
using the IE-only bgsound tag. This means those of you using Firefox
should now be able to hear the navigation beeps while browsing the
site. If you are having any problems with the sounds, please let me
know by e-mail by using the e-mail button on the site.

- With gas prices suddenly spiking as high as $2.35, I thought I'd
better take advantage of what may be my last chance to top-off my tank

- I've noticed that sometimes Firefox loads the tables on my mileage
logs incorrectly, with columns misaligned, etc. If this should happen
when you view these pages, simply reload the page and Firefox should
then display the tables correctly. Sorry for any inconvenience. :)

updated -- and wouldn't you know the one station in town charging
$2.09 instead of $2.19 had all their pumps out of order tonight.....

- I managed to find a JavaScript that would allow this site's sounds
to play in both Internet Explorer and Firefox... but anyone using
Windows XP with SP2 installed will get an unpleasant warning about the
script due to SP2's default JavaScript settings. So I've decided
against using this method, and I haven't been able to find a better
one. However, I did stumble across this
page with a Firefox extension that claims to make the "bgsound" tag
work like it does in Internet Explorer. I haven't been able to get
this extension to work properly, but maybe some of you viewing with
Firefox will have better luck with it.

- Just to follow-up on my previous comments regarding how this site is
displayed in the Firefox browser, I have not yet found a substitute
for IE's "bgsound" feature. This means that if you are
viewing this site in Firefox you will not hear the button beeps when
you navigate the site, nor will you hear the Prius start-up when
loading the main frameset.
I will keep looking for a substitute method
that will work in both browsers, though I think that aside from the
lack of sound the site now displays normally in both Internet Explorer
and Firefox.

- Happy New Year everyone!
- After installing the Firefox browser that seems to be getting so
much attention lately, I discovered some major oddities in how this
site is displayed in the new browser. I've done my best to adjust the
HTML on this site so it will display correctly in both IE and Firefox,
but I'm still working on a few seemingly IE-exclusive tags or switches
that aren't working in Firefox. Hopefully I'll be able to find
alternatives that will work in both browsers...
