About My Prius

My Prius had 90 miles on it at delivery (the dealer traded to get one with my options) and I have driven more then 18,000 miles in it since. I don't drive as much as most people and unfortunately I have to keep my car outside year-round. In Minnesota.
I am 6'6" tall and I had a heck of a time finding a regular car that I could fit in comfortably. The Prius has plenty of headroom for me, but when I first sat in it I wasn't sure if there was enough leg room for me. I decided to rent a Prius for a day and was ecstatic to discover that the car was extremely comfortable to drive. I put 120 miles on the rental in one day and was sad to see the car go back. I ordered my car soon after that.
I picked up my Prius on March 30th, 2002. It has the following options:

-Single CD player

-Side impact air bags
-Cruise Control
-Trunk Cargo Net
-Toyota Floor Mats

-Wheel locks
My car also has Daytime Running Lights (Headlights only), but I don't need to photograph that, do I? ;-)
So what are the pros/cons of owning a Prius? Here's my list (in no particular order)
Pros:
  • Fun to drive!
  • Comfortable
  • Seats 5
  • Extremely maneuverable
  • Fits in tight spaces
  • Great gas mileage (duh ;-)
  • The quiet peacefulness when waiting at a stop light with no engine running needlessly burning gas
  • Driving down my street in electric mode and waiting to see if anyone notices that the car isn't making any noise :)
  • The great feeling knowing that while driving there's up to 90% less harmful stuff coming out of the tailpipe.
  • Unique and stylish design
  • Wonderful center-mounted digital speedometer
  • LCD display that gives real data on MPG and hybrid system
  • Power windows, temperature control system and all the other features of a high quality mid-range sedan
  • Toyota quality, backed up with an excellent warranty including an 8-year/100,000 mile warranty on all major hybrid components (battery, inverter, etc.), 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty, 5 free regular maintenance visits and free roadside assistance.
Cons:
  • Unlike the European and Japanese version, the rear seat does not fold down and there is no 6-way adjustable seat. (Note: the redesigned 2004 Prius has a hatch-back with folding rear seat)
  • Can't tow anything
