Libertarian need not be juxtaposed with his opposite because he has no opposite, unless you include EVERYONE. Libertarian, will engage in pitched battle with a liberal, who he majestically dismisses as being "illogical", and then turns on the conservatives condemning them for ideological mushiness. Libertarian sees himself as a maverick romantic; Don Quixote in an heroic but gloriously impossible charge against evil taxes, foreign aid, federal regulations, and welfare. Libertarian loves to display how the inexorable logic of his crystalline thinking can only lead to certain "obvious" conclusions, but when forced to defend his arguments to the bitter end by powerful Warriors, such as Cogitator and Wonk, he inevitably finds himself out on a limb, defending child labor, sweat shops, hookers, legalization of heroin, cannibalism, and other solecisms. In other words, Libertarian is a crank. He often identifies with exotic third parties that most people have never heard of; something like, The American Liberty Party, or The True Federalists, which, when they even get on the ballot, attract a microscopic sliver of the electorate. Libertarian does, however, soften his principled opposition to wasteful federal spending when misfortune places him in need of assistance.

Libertarian could be regarded as the political variant of Ideologue, or possibly a combination of Ideologue and Blowhard, but he is such a common nuisance on message boards and other forums that he deserves a unique place in the roster.

Finally, Libertarian just doesn’t know when to shut up. For example, no one but Libertarian would bring up subjects like fiscal responsibility, or the military’s proper response to terrorism on an alternative music message board. Nor does he know when to STOP speaking, it is possible to hear him droning on as (figuratively speaking) the lights are turned out and everyone is leaving the building.

Libertarian is heartily loathed by Weenie, and his natural enemies are Cogitator and Wonk. Also, because of his weak sense of loyalty Libertarian is an extremely unreliable ally in battle.
CAUTION: Libertarians are not easily identified by their outward appearance; he could be a pony-tailed guy with an ACLU button on his lapel, he could be as straight as a banker, or he could be a pacifist brandishing a peace sign.
