Politics is really a tribal affair and the two largest political tribes
in the USA are, of course, Democrats and Republicans. Each of these tribes
has a full cadre of Warriors who become especially pugnacious during political
season. The Netizen’s Guide to Flame Warriors will attempt to describe
a few of them.
.
It hardly bears repeating that Warrior designations are not precise, and a
Warrior may behave in a manner completely contrary to his tribal affiliation.
For example, Warriors from the arts antd entertainment tribes TEND to be Democrats,
but there are a number of rogue celebrity Warriors that resolutely battle
for the Republicans. Us usual, however, the exceptions prove the rule. This
taxonomy of tribal Warriors is only intended as a general guide, and the prudent
netizen should always be alert to the unexpected.
I’ve decided to pair up roughly analogous types from each tribe. The
first of the Democratic tribal Warriors is Cogitator. His Republican counterpart
could be given the same name without undermining the comparison, but for clarity’s
sake each Warrior will have a different name. If you disapprove of my juxtapositions
try not to work yourself up into high dudgeon - just let me know and I'll
take your comments under advisement. I plan to keep my own political leaning
strictly to myself, but if I seem to favor one tribe over another I'm sure
you'll let me know about it.
NOTE: You will see a Crossover Index for each new Warrior. It indicates
the likelihood, on a scale of 1 to 10, of a particular Warrior voting for
(or maybe just defending) a candidate from the other tribe. 1 indicates ZERO
chance of a crossover vote, and 10 indicates a CERTAINTY of a crossover vote.
