Chicanos Latinos Unidos En Servicio

Chicanos Latinos Unidos En Servicio, Inc. (CLUES) is a private nonprofit organization, that has been providing linguistically and culturally appropriate services to the Chicano Latino community since 1981. CLUES has developed a continuum of services within the core areas of Mental Health, Chemical Health, Employment, Education, and Seniors programming. In order to further strengthen the core service areas, CLUES has taken a proactive approach in leadership, capacity building and innovation by creating associations with organizations that share CLUES vision.

Community Prevention Coalition of Hennepin County

The Community Prevention Coalition (CPC) is a community initiative with the Hennepin County Community Health Department in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The CPC works to reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems in Hennepin County using population level health strategies.

Hennepin County Government

The Hennepin County Community Health Department is the Hennepin County department that houses the Community Prevention Coalition (CPC). The CPC is a community initiative with the Hennepin County Community Health Department.

Americans For Non-Smokers' Rights

Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights is the only national lobbying organization dedicated to nonsmokers' rights, taking on the tobacco industry at all levels of government to protect nonsmokers from secondhand smoke and youth from tobacco addiction.

Center for Science in the Public Interest

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a nonprofit education and advocacy organization that focuses on improving the safety and nutritional quality of our food supply and on reducing the carnage caused by alcoholic beverages. CSPI seeks to promote health through educating the public about nutrition and alcohol; it represents citizens' interests before legislative, regulatory, and judicial bodies; and it works to ensure that advances in science are used for the public's good.

FACE-Truth and Clarity on Alcohol

    FACE-Truth and Clarity on Alcohol is a national non profit orgranization that focuses specifically on alcohol issues. FACE conducts work in three areas: Media development on key alcohol isues, designed to help people make connections between alcohol and critical public health concerns; Training on community organizing for the reduction of alcohol-related problems among youth and adults; and National advocacy for policy change on alcohol

Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, the Center provides support to all institutions of higher education in their efforts to address alcohol and other drug problems. This is a very well-done site; they also have a good email discussion list.

Maryland Underage Drinking Prevention Coalition

The Maryland Underage Drinking Coalition is comprised of over 1,000 individuals and community groups from across the state. These individuals and groups work diligently within their local communities to prevent the use of alcohol, and other drugs, by persons under 21 years of age.

National Center for Tobacco Free Kids

The CAMPAIGN FOR TOBACCO-FREE KIDS is the country's largest non-government initiative ever launched to protect children from tobacco addiction. The CAMPAIGN is working to protect kids from tobacco by: raising awareness that tobacco use is a pediatric disease; changing public policies to limit the marketing and sales of tobacco to children; altering the environment in which tobacco use and policy decisions are made; and actively countering the tobacco industry and its special interests.

One Anti-Smoking activist has come up with an system for getting the anti-smoking message out. SMOKESCREEN.ORG offers the anti-smoking activist, an automated system for generating a wave of public outcry.

Trauma Foundation

The Trauma Foundation is committed to reducing injuries and injury deaths by focusing on policy development and policy advocacy.
