Welcome to my home page. I'll be revising it from time to time, as developments, well, develop. I'm going to post some of the essays and maybe short fiction, convention appearances and such... And if I throw in a personal note or two, I hope nobody'll be upset. (Well . . . actually, err, there are some people who it wouldn't bother me at all were they to get upset. You Know Who You Are.)

I write fantasy and science fiction novels, although I've been known to do an Op-Ed piece or two on the side. I'm best known for my Guardians of the Flamefantasy series, which at present consists of seven novels from Penguin/ROC, all of which are in print.-- you can click hereto see about ordering them from Amazon, if you want to.

  • The Burglar, the Knife and the Gun -- this is the first piece I sold to the Star Tribune Op-Ed page; it's about the time that my wife, Felicia, woke up to find a burglar in our bedroom, reaching his hand under the covers...
  • The Count -- this is the original version of an Op-Ed piece published in the Star Tribune a couple of years ago. It's about child abuse, and yes, it's about me.
