Community Service Workers

Where do the hard-core youth come from? Nidra King Center will often make first contact with older kids because they have wound up in trouble with the law and must perform some kind of community service. Our skilled volunteers get to know about these kids, then we get the kids plugged in to something that keeps their interest and, hopefully, that something will keep them out of further trouble and divert them from the path they are on. This isn't always easy to do, and our Mothers Against Gangs program steps in quite a bit to help in the transition.

Additionally, we sometimes accept adult offenders who have certain skills to lend us while they perform their hours of community service at the center. These adult offenders are carefully screened prior to acceptance as a community service worker for obvious reasons.
