After School Activities

An idle mind is the devil's workshop. That's what the old people used to say. Nidra King Center have come to believe that truism. We offer kids a place to go after school where they can interact with other kids, get help with their homework, get tutoring if they need it, or brush up on their computer skills. The kids may also participate in sports, theater, musical, art, swimming and other activities that are available during the school year, with the help of our volunteer personnel. Since our volunteers now work with the children in their own homes, this becomes more of a challenge. Often times our volunteers have their own families to take care of after school. Most have found that it is helpful to work with the parent(s) to get their Nidra King Center child into activities at their own school, and then afterward, when our volunteer families have free time, the volunteer will either visit the child's home or bring the child home with them, or take the child along for inclusion in their own family activities. This might be theatre, sports, or some other kind of fun recreation or lesson.
