Introduction to
"Me"
|
Hi, my name is Tiffany (but my close
friends call me "Dizzy"). Thanks for visiting
my home page. I was 9 years old when this page went up. I
revisited it when I was 15 and made some changes, and I just recently
added the last paragraph of this Introductory Section.
The rest of this page is really about "Old Stuff." I'm 15 years old now. I have 2 brothers who are older than me, one is 22 and the other is 17. I have one sister who is older than me (she's 25), and my younger sister is 14. My mom volunteers for the Nidra King Center, helping with kids and she also volunteers her time with senior citizens. I'm a kid who lives in a single parent family. For us, that's not so bad now, but I used to hate it. My mom's pretty cool and tries to make sure we have everything we need and some of what we want. We're lucky, my mom's kind of a nerd and we've had a computer since before I was born, so we're luckier than most kids from single-parent families. My mom says without a good education, you don't have a chance in life. We use the computer for education, doing homework and research, and for entertainment. I'm not a computer nerd, but I know my way around Windows pretty well and mom makes me learn any software that I have ever asked her to help me use. Update: I just turned 21 in December 2005, I'm in my 3rd year of college, have a great job and am no longer living in Minnesota -- oh, and I never did get to go to France, but I'm hopeful). Thanks, Nidra King Center, I'm having a pretty good life these days.

| My Education | I'm a Sophomore in High School. I concentrate on my schoolwork and so far it is still paying off. I get pretty good grades and last year I was an honor roll student. I'm trying for the same thing this year. Well, actually, I'm concentrating on trying to keep my grades up because I want to go to college and I'll need to get a full scholarship to do that. I want to go to college in France. I think that France is a really cool place. | |
| Some Background Information | We moved to
Minnesota from another state and I had a
lot of friends there. I hated it when we moved here because I missed all of my friends. Now, it's
not so bad because I've made new friends and they are
pretty cool too. When I was very little, my mom read to me and my siblings a lot. So, when I first learned how to read, my mom told me that if you learn how to read, you can do anything. I didn't know exactly what she meant back then, but as I got older I figured it out... when you know how to read, you can teach yourself a lot of stuff, just by reading books about whatever it is you want to learn how to do. I found that out because, whenever I ask my parents about something I don't know, they tell me to look it up and I have learned a lot by doing that. When I was a little kid, it used to be such a bore, now its actually kind of fun. When I'm reading, its like all of the stuff is happening to me, or like I'm right there in the middle of it. Another thing I've learned is that you can have a lot of fun just learning new things. If you don't believe me, try it yourself. Just start out by using the search feature of your browser and see how much fun you can have searching for something you want to know all about. There are also lots of encyclopedias online and you can do all kinds of research for school projects online too. Be careful online though -- there are lots of pervs out there acting like they're kids when they're really gross old men trying to prey on innocent kids. |

| My Hobbies | I read and write a
lot. I wrote a story when I was 12 called The Feather and the Witch . Although I have
written other stories since then, I haven't put any up on
the web. Actually, a lot of the Kids at the Center have
written stories too that aren't online. I am also interested in theatre
and the arts. I'll probably major in it when I go to college.
My mom wants me to be a doctor so I'll probably take medical classes my
first year to please her.
During the summer months, my younger sister and I create these cool chat rooms just for kids our age who like the same musicians we like: ICP, Goo Goo Dolls, Twiztid, Destiny's Child, Bush, Bone Thugs 'n Harmony, Michael Jackson's early stuff--"Beat It," etc. |
