Arrr...

It's been smooth sailin' 'ere in the great Midwestern amber waves, though the amber's goin' white now. I'm learnin' how to handle scrubbin' salty decks lately - two front feet into the water bucket n' dig. I find it pretty effective - ya dig, water goes a-flyin' everywhere, and voila, you're done your chores. The captain seems to think that while efficient for scrubbin' salty decks, it ain't so efficient for carpeted areas. There's just no pleasin' some people.

We landed on Turkey Island this past Thursday. I was awARRRded a marrow bone for all me good work. The Captain n' Navigator took me on me own for shore leave n' left the First Mate in charge of the ship. She didn't sink it or burn it down while we were away, so the Captain considered the expedition a success.

From here, I can see everything!

I gots to meet some of the Navigator's clan whom I'd never met before, including a lovely wench from the coast of Philadelphia whom he told me to keep me paws off of. I flirted with the ladies. There was enough grog to go around, and I got me some *treasure* from the cook.

Speakin' of treasure, I'm getting pretty good at finding it and dragging it around the ship. I'm also learnin' to stand up for meself and sometimes I start playin' brawls with the First Mate. Sometimes the Captain says "Hey, that's not fair!", so I just shrug n' grin n' say, "Um... *piiiiirate!*" n' then she mumbles somethin' about me handsome self bein' somethin' like Johnny Depp, right down to the sway. I blame the sway on me growin' legs.

Me holds are burstin' with swag - I found out how to open the big closet on deck - the place where the Captain stores all me grub n' me rewards. She didn' seem too pleased, but then, ya can't please everyone... on the other hand, I'm a-learnin' all sorts of things like take n' hold, n' takin' orders like "go fetch it up, ye scurvy dog!" n' "Sink me! Drop that right away, mate!" I'm workin' hard on the order to "Belay!" but that's just plain hard for a young pirate like me.

Guess I should go attack me a First Mate a while. We practice fightin' many times each day. I'm gettin' pretty good but she still has about 25 pounds on me...

Time to weigh anchor...
