Inspiration

I'm not really sure if I could peg down a defining inspiration. While at CF9 with Zooma, I was hindered by bad vision and semi-poor ventilation. Add in the full body costume and the result was that I had a costume that I couldn't wear for more than 20 minutes at a time. I got a chance to look at Blynx's lynx mask up close, and I've talked to him extensively about how he made it. I figure a nice face/head/tail/gloves costume would be good for wearing for long periods of time. Thus, I launched Randal (Project Trenton), who will be a male raccoon costume influenced loosely by the character by the same name from the movie "Clerks".

New Techniques

- Head/Tail-only suit

- Foam-in-a-can mask construction

- Open mouth, open eyes design

Patterns & Modifications

There's no real pattern for Randal. The only sewing involved will be with the tail and possibly the sides of the head. Either way a pattern won't be necessary.

Materials

Fur from bought from Montery Mills, a generic plastic masquarade mask from Michaels, a black haired wig, Good Stuff (Foam in a can), woodglue, and hot glue.

Special Thanks To...

Blynx, for his ultracool lynx costume that has inspired me to make/try this raccoon costume.

Triggur and V'ril, whose horse and unicorn costumes have proven that you don't need an entire bodysuit to have a good costume.

Tim Susman, who WILL have to put up with yet another mess in the apartment.
