who am i? i hate to use the word 'average' or 'stereotypical', so how about 'middle of the road'? i'm smarter than i claim to be but not as smart as i think i am. i'm more competent than i give myself credit for, but i'm not going to win first prize in any one thing. politically i consider myself to be fiscally conservative and socially liberal, but i have a habbit of annoying my friends by playing devil's advocate on political stances i don't actually agree with. i was born and raised in indianapolis, educated at purdue university, and lived for several years in minneapolis before moving to the greater los angeles area. so while i am on the left coast, i still have a midwest sensibility. whatever that means. i'm currently living in torrance and working as a computer programmer in the aviation industry. like most guys, i'm a sports fan as well. though i'm not as rabid as i used to be (you won't catch me painting my face or calling in sick to watch the ncaa tournament). my favorite teams though, for the sake of completeness, are the indianapolis colts, indiana pacers, detroit red wings, and minnesota vikings. i also follow the detroit tigers, minnesota twins, and chicago cubs on the occassions when i'm really bored and baseball is all that's going on. as i look back now, 10+ years removed from college and look back to what i thought i'd be doing once i hit the working world and what my long term goals were. when i first put this web site up my 'plan' was: to get my act together, finish my courseload at purdue university, and graduate sometime before the turn of the century with degrees in professional writing, computer science, and any other disciplines i could pick up a diploma in accidentally. then move to minneapolis, philadelphia, orlando, or just about anyplace else where I could scrounge up a living for myself and have good friends nearby. if i was lucky, i'd get a strange pet like a fox, raccoon, skunk, or ferret. i'd live in an apartment on the outskirts of town and drive around in a bright red dodge neon. upon reflection, they were fair goals for someone new to the working world. nothing too outrageous or overly extensive. no 'house, 7 kids, and a ferrari' or anything like that. and with the exception of 'having a strange pet', i've pretty much accomplished them, so maybe it's time for a new set. maybe one that isn't quite like a check list. i would like to move to that next stage, to buy a house, to look at getting married and starting a family. after all, the biological clock is ticking. anyway, take a look around this website if you like and you'll learn a bit more about me, what kind of music i like, where i've visited, what i look like, what my interests are, and who i think you should cast your vote for in the 2012 presidential race. parking is free. |
