I figure by being a better horseman and a better rider, that I have a better understanding of the horses in my art. It's pretty much like drawing and painting horses from memory and from the feel and touch of working with my own horse, Ike. I ride, I've fox hunted and I am always hanging out at the barn, the pasture, rodeos or polo matches, sketchbook in hand. I take my inspiration from being around many, many horses.
