1951 HENRY J

Discovered in a junk yard in 1977 is an early 1951 Henry J Deluxe. The car
was parked when the front seat backs broke. After adding fresh fluids,
battery, new gas tank, fuel line and fuel pump the car ran. It had been
last licensed in 1963.

Over the years the Henry J had been painted a number of times.
After striping a number of layers the orinal color Aloha Green was
visible.

The 51 Henry J Deluxe is a very spartan car by todays standards. By
purchasing the "Deluxe" you got the 6 cylinder engine, chrome windshield
and hood trim. As a cost saving measure early Henry J's did not have a glove
box door (there was a storage pouch on the passenger side kick panel), and
trunk lid. (all storage was accessed through the front doors over the folding
rear seat. Other optional equipement included oil filter, turn signals, heater,
fresh air vent package, cigar lighter, ashtray, passenger side sun visor, and
front and rear wing windows.

Kaiser-Frazer set their cars apart from the competion by offering
the largest selection of colors and interiors offered by any
manufacture of the time. The original shade of Aloha Green is
typical of how the Henry J was marketed with bright colors. Yellow,
red, blue and gray were also available.
