Reverse Engineering

Reverse Engineering is the process of replicating both the form and the function of an existing physical object or part. The original part can be clay, foam, or even an existing part. This can be accomplished through the collection of point cloud data via traditional CMM or Laser scanning systems. The most common application occurs when an existing part, without a CAD model or drawing, needs to be reproduced or translated into a 3D CAD database.

Our surfacing experts convert the scan data into a high quality surface model. The surface model can be directly imported into a CAM program or converted to a solid model in other CAD applications such as ProE.
